Relationships, Rights, Responsibilities

These polices include how the library relates to the city and the county, customer service, rights and responsibilities.
  • Internal Relations - The library staff consists of Library Director, Assistant Librarian, and Assistant Children's Librarian
  • Iowa Library Service Areas -  The Grand Junction Public Library is in the Central Iowa Library Service Area, 1201 NW Prairie Ridge Drive, Ankeny, Iowa 50021
  • State Library - State Library of Iowa, Ola Babcock Miller Building, 1112 E Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50319
  • Iowa Library Association (ILA) - Grand Junction Publci Library is a member of Iowa Library Association
  • American Library Association (ALA) - Grand Junctio Public Library is a member of American Library Association
  • Library and funding bodies - Grand Junction Public Library receives funding from the City of Grand Junction, Greene County, the state of Iowa, and the City of Dana (contract)
  • Customer rights and responsibilities - To obtain a valid library card, and eligilbe borrower must fill out an application form. Application forms require a full written signature, proof of permanent home address and PO box number, and phone number. By submitting this form you are agreeing to obey all rules and regulations of the Library. Card holders are responsible for all materials checked out on their card (late fees and damage charges). Use of the Library may be denied for due cause (failure to return items, pay fees, destruction of library property, disturbance of other patrons, or other objectionable conduct.
  • Acceptable behavior - The following kinds of behavior will not be allowed in the library.  1. Endangering the safety or health of others. 2. violation of local, state or federal law within the library. 3. Vandalism of library property or material. 4. Theft of library materials, or personal property of other patrons or staff. 5. Use of abusive language. 6. Smoking (in any area).          Staff on duty are responsible for determining inappropriate behavior.
  • Dress Code for Patrons - Shoes and Shirt are required.
  • Unattended children - to provide for the general safety of children whlie visiting the Library all children under 6 shall be attended & supervised by a responsible adult or child care provider. The Grand Junction Public Library is not responsible for children left unattended in the library or on library grounds.
