Access, Services and Programs

These policies cover policies on loan periods, borrowing privileges, library programs and more.
  • Availability of hours and services, and holiday closings /emergency and weather closingsare determined by the board of trustees and the director
  • Borrowing privileges - Library service is available free of charge to residents of Grand Junction, Dana, Greene County rural residents, and any Iowa resident residing in a community that participates in Iowa Open Access Program. Out of state residents or temporary residents may be issued a temporary card allowing restricted borrowing privileges. Privileges may be denied for due cause - failure to return items or pay penalties, destruction of library property, disturbance of other patrons, or any objectionalbe conduct on library premises. Service will not be denied because of age, religious, racial, social, economic, or political status.
  • Fines -Fines for overdue materials: Print items, videos, Interlibrary loan will be $.25 per day/per item. Fines will accumulate up to the replacement cost of the item. 

  • Loan periods - Books and other printed materials are loaned for 2 weeks. Movies are loaned for 1 week.
  • Children - For the general safety of children while visiting the library, and to prevent undo disruption of normal library activities for all persons visiting the library - All children 6 and under shall be attended & supervised by a parent or child care provider. All persons 7 and older shall adhere to the rules of conduct in the Behavior Policy. The Library is not responsible for childrren left unattended in the library or on the library grounds.
  • Meeting room - All meetings held at the Library must be open to the general public and no charge may be made for admission. Programs sponsored by the library will have priority. An adult sponsor will supervise children's groups. The room is available during regular library hours. Use of Library space does not imply Library endorsement of ideas expressed in the meetings. No smoking, alcohol, or controlled substances are allowed. The Library and the city of Grand Junction are not responsible for accidents, injury or loss of individual property while using the meeting room.
  • Bulletin board and display areas - Exhibits should be of general interest and open to the public. Individuals, organizations, or groups placing materials on exhibit must agree to assume all risk for articles exhibited by signing the Agreement of Assumption of Risk form.
